Assessment

Assessment of R&D/Engineering Organizations and/or Critical Processes

  • An assessment of the 4Es (E2E Effectiveness & Efficiency) of the organizational entity and/or process is an excellent management tool for creating a roadmap for improving the organization’s 4Es
  • The focus of the process is not on grading or comparing to other similar organizations, it is about what needs to be done to improve
  • The size of the assessed organization affects the number of key people who need to be met to study and analyze the organization
  • I have performed such a assessments of many R&D/Engineering organizations ranging in size from 10 engineers to 4,500 engineers
  • The assessment is carried out according to a systematic methodology that begins with the precise definition of the project’s content, which is approved by the organization’s management, including: the rationale for performing the work, the goal, objectives, success criteria, what is included and what is not included, assumptions, risks, and more
  • I conduct the assessment myself and meet with key people in the organization who are required to participate in the meeting after answering a special questionnaire in writing. In the case of a process assessment, I also sample all relevant stations
  • The assessment output, of course, also includes concrete recommendations for improvement. In a significant number of cases, I then participate in and guide the implementation process
